Top file is original mp4, bottom file is high quality webm transcoded version.  At this stage do we see quality difference between these two? At this point I don't need slow bandwidth testing.  This is a high end test.  I'll spin up lower speed versions next.

Depending on your OS and browser combo you will receive one of these files when mormally played through the player on the high quality version.  For quality testing, we should look at both.

Note this is different from earlier test.  Both files are the 720p version.  It's a bit odd that the webm based off of the mp4 is showing better quality (to me anyway).  The transcode may have some smarts in it that smooth over certain things.

JG picky observations: "Stutter" here is a minor stutter as the frame moves as seen on full screen.  It is NOT a full stop and wait for video to catch up to player.

  • Stutter at 3:22 in mp4 on both Firefox and Chromium: not seen on webm
  • Stutter in mp4 at 3:55, minor stutter in webm at same point
  • Stills at 4:10 appear almost identical in both on my full screen 1600x1200 monitor. If you can switch windows and put both up in different browsers or windows, you should be able to switch between the two with one keystroke.  This sometimes makes comparison easier.
