October 13: Pen & Ink Drawing - 10-4pm, $32/$37 at Milton Artists Guild

In this class, students will learn the basics of drawing with dip pens and ink. Taught by Robert Waldo Brunelle Jr. - Ages 15+
Topics covered will include: Using various pen nibs to create different line widths, cross-hatching, and stippling to create shadows, using ink wash to add grey tones, drawing with a brush, and the basics of sumi-e brush painting.

Materials: paper (either smooth watercolor paper, or paper made specifically for pen and ink drawing) pencils, water-based ink, dip pens (I will bring along some dip pens and sumi-e brushes for students to borrow, but it will be helpful if students have some of their own to use).

Robert Waldo Brunelle is a painter, kinetic sculptor, book illustrator, art educator, and political cartoonist. He was the art teacher at the Browns River Middle School from 1981 to 2012. He served as the president of the Northern Vermont Artist Association from 1995 to 2012 and now serves as the NVAA’s Vice President. He has been exhibiting his paintings in the region since 1978. He is a founding member of the Vermont Comic Creator’s Group, and his cartoon strip "Mr. Brunelle Explains It All" appears weekly in Seven Days, and monthly in Funny Times.
