Techno-artist, engineer, environmental activist, and all-purpose innovative “thingker” Natalie Jeremijenko, has been called “one of the three or four most dynamic people on the face of the earth” by Wired and one of the “Most Influential Women in Technology” by Fast Company. Her TED talk on the “Art of the Eco-Mindshift” has been viewed by nearly 400,000 people, and her art has been exhibited around the world, from MOMA and the Guggenheim in New York City to Documenta in Kassel, Germany. She has directed the Yale University Engineering Design Lab, and currently directs the Environmental Health Clinic at New York University, where she is also an Associate Professor of Visual Arts. Her work blends art, engineering, biochemistry, physics, neuroscience, environmental advocacy, and trans-species collaboration.

Artist and filmmaker Jeremy Lee MacKenzie spoke to a crowd gathered at the Amy E. Tarrant Gallery at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday about his show, "Hidden Blueprints." The exhibit consists of sizable pieces of intricately carved wood scrollwork which were designed while Jeremy was in the prison system serving a total of eight years for drug trafficking and bank robbery. Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and representatives of Vermont organizations that advocate for crime victims announce major grants for Vermont Crime Victim Services and Domestic and Sexual Violence Programs. Leahy, a former prosecutor, has long led in support for crime victims. His bill to strengthen and renew the Violence Against Women Act was signed into law in 2013. He is the top Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the most senior member of the Appropriations Committee, which funds justice programs. Vermont will recieve more than $8.7 million from the U.S. Department for Justice to support victims of crime and enhance programs that serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
